Version 6.10.0.14470

Released: Sep 16, 2026
Licence Date: Jun 30, 2026

Source version 6.10.0.14470 is an update to the latest Production Release of Source version 6.10.0.14373 to fix the crashing issue ACT reported. Key enhancements in version 6.10 include:

New Features:
  • The Flow Calibration Wizard now supports import and export of the Meta Parameter table as a CSV file. Users with large parameter sets can edit Min/Max values in bulk outside Source and re-import them, reducing manual entry time and the risk of input errors.
  • The Environmental Flow Manager portfolios table now displays two additional columns: Entitlement and Use Type, making it easier to review account configurations without opening individual records. Carryover accounts show an entitlement of 0.
  • Users can now freeze the header comments row in the Tabular Editor so it stays visible when scrolling through large datasets. This is optional, toggled via the right-click context menu, and the setting is persisted between sessions.
  • Two new recorders are now available at splitter nodes: Modelled Minimum Effluent and Modelled Maximum Effluent, capturing the full range of effluent values across a simulation run.
  • If there is a problem with an input file when configuring a 'Run w/Warm Up' in Operations mode, the user now has the option to open a window to identify the specific file(s) at fault, in addition to receiving an error message. This removes the need for manual investigation

    Bug Fixes:
  • Under the experimental Marker Storage Logic, markers were not being propagated through plain routing links, producing incorrect salinity concentrations downstream of confluence nodes. This has been corrected.
  • When using the 'NetLP Monthly Optimiser Community Plugin', running a project from the command line in v5.60 onwards failed to create the output folder and results. This has been fixed in Source version 6.0.0 and v6.10.
  • Projects created before Source beta version 6.1, and opened in Source beta version v6.1 or later, could produce a fatal error -"The given key '0' was not present in the dictionary", when a new inflow with the Forecast Volume recorder enabled was added and run. This has been resolved.
  • Pumping and Transfer recorder files were not being included in 'NetLP Monthly Optimiser Community Plugin' exports. These are now generated correctly.
  • Filtering sub catchments by name (e.g. "SC #1") was incorrectly returning partial matches such as SC #10, SC #11, and SC #12. Filtering now returns only correctly scoped matches.
  • Changing a unit in the Feature Table filter (e.g. Travel Time from days to seconds) triggered an error that could persist and cause Source to crash. This is now resolved.
  • The Transfer trigger screen and some other Rule-based Allocation windows did not display a scrollbar, causing critical configuration sections to be hidden on smaller screens with no indication to the user. A scrollbar is now present on affected windows.

Plus numerous fixes and improvements that were released with our 6.1, 6.2 & 6.3 Beta versions.

  • Version 6.0.0.14354

    Released: Jun 17, 2026
    Licence Date: Oct 1, 2025

This version 6.0.0.14354 is a patch to previous production version that includes a fix to an issue where running a model via the command line in Source V6.0 failed to generate the NetLP output folder and results.

This is intended for use by SAWater

    Version 6.0.0.0

    Released: May 20, 2026
    Licence Date: Oct 1, 2025

Test version to run from debug

    Version 6.0.0.14260

    Released: Apr 20, 2026
    Licence Date: Oct 1, 2025

This version 6.0.0.14260 is a patch to previous production version that includes a fix to an issue where input sets loaded via the command line would unexpectedly persist after project load.
Issue: When running Source from the command line, input set cleanup steps were not completed after the project finished loading. Any input set loaded into the project would unexpectedly persist, potentially affecting subsequent model runs within the same session.
Fix: Input set cleanup now completes correctly following project load in command-line execution mode.
Who is affected: Users running Source 5.60 & later versions via the command line with input sets. GUI users are not affected.

And eWater is pleased to announce that all projects and libraries within Source have been successfully migrated from .NET Framework 4.8 to .NET 8.0. This release not only ensures compatibility with future maintenance and enhancement cycles but also brings significant improvements in performance and memory efficiency. These optimizations will provide a more streamlined experience, especially in resource-intensive simulations and large-scale data handling.

This upgrade represents a major step forward in maintainability and performance of Source and ensures that the majority of technologies used in Source are in the current version and actively supported by their vendor.
Please note that from October 2025, all maintenance, bug fixes and enhancements to Source will be to the .NET 8.0 version.

    Version 6.0.0.14048

    Released: Nov 25, 2025
    Licence Date: Oct 1, 2025

    This patch contains
  • A fix to ensure that custom chart folders are correctly recognized when opening projects in Source .NET 8.
    1. If your project was created in .NET 8 previous versions (5.91.0.13948, 6.0.0.13989, or 6.0.0.14027 ) or if you have never saved your project in any earlier .NET 8 version, everything will work normally after installing Source version 6.0.0.14048. Your custom chart folders will appear correctly and no additional steps are needed.
    2. If you opened a .NET 4.8 project in an earlier .NET 8 version of Source (5.91.0.13948, 6.0.0.13989, or 6.0.0.14027) and saved it there , the saved copy may have lost its custom chart folders. To restore them, open a version of the project that was last saved in .NET 4.8 using Source 6.0.0.14048, which includes this fix.
  • The Urban Developer plugin has been upgraded to .NET 8 and verified for full compatibility with Source v6.0.
  • A fix to a bug where the Operations Mode 'Predicted Order Forecast' was not available on the Time Series Demand model. It is now available again.
  • A fix to an issue where users were required to re-enter their eWater Toolkit username and password each time a model was opened. Source will now securely retain login credentials between sessions, allowing users to seamlessly access and open models without repeated authentication prompts.

With Source versions 6.0.0.14027 or 6.0.0.14048, all the projects and libraries within Source were successfully migrated from .NET Framework 4.8 to .NET 8.0. This release not only ensures compatibility with future maintenance and enhancement cycles but also brings significant improvements in performance and memory efficiency.

Please note that from October 2025, all maintenance, bug fixes and enhancements to Source will be to the .NET 8.0 version.

  • Version 5.0.3.11798

    Released: Jun 16, 2021
    Licence Date: Jun 30, 2020

Version 5.0 includes the release of Urban Developer and MUSICX functionality as plugins to Source. This is a significant step forward for Urban water analysis. By using these three tools together, water managers have the ability to assess and plan for truly integrated water management solutions, that consider water quality and quantity, at a range of scales.

MUSIC and Urban Developer were originally designed to complement each other, to draw together information on urban water quantity (Urban Developer) and water quality (MUSIC) to develop integrated water management solutions in urban areas. These models can now be integrated with eWater Source catchment and river system models. This allows users to analyse interactions between different components of the water cycle and jointly evaluate demand and water supply options.  This provides water managers with the tools to understand the best balance of traditional centralised bulk water supply, demand management and alternative water supplies, including the use and recycling of stormwater, wastewater and groundwater.

    Improvements to Source includes:
  • River Operations
  • A new recorder for analysing orders
  • A new Water User and Constraint Phase
  • Performance improvements

  • Version 5.0.1.11105

    Released: Sep 10, 2020

  • Version 3.3.0.0

    Released: Mar 28, 2013
    Licence Date: Mar 28, 2013

Bug fixes since the first 3.3.0 was first released:
RM-11508 RA: Exception after deleting storage
    RM-11442 Manual optimisation bug
RM-11394 Error after breaking and reconnecting link.

Source 3.3.0 is a result of extensive changes over its predecessor, Source 3.1.0. In addition to improved editing performance, Source 3.3.0 has introduced several key features, which are outlined below. For further technical details about these changes, refer to the Technical Release Notes.

    Data Sources Explorer

Implementation of the Data Sources Explorer and Input Sets in the user interface allows for a centrally managed, data handling process in Source. Key attributes include, but are not limited to:
  • The ability to update a time series at one location, even if it has been used at multiple nodes in a scenario.
  • The ability to set up alternative configurations for different input sets.
  • The ability to refer to input sets using both the command line and the Expression Editor for catchments, rivers and operations scenarios.

    River Operations and Forecasting

These have undergone a complete overhaul. Specific upgrades include:
  • River Operations can be toggled on and off, allowing for better management of operations-type functions, along with the ability to run operations in planning scenarios.
  • The ability to forecast several parameters in the storage node, including unaccounted differences, evaporation and rainfall.

    Nodes

Implementation of the Irrigator demand model (as part of the Water User node) allows for improved crop-based planting decisions that better align with economic modelling. It is based on three approaches that have been incorporated into Source, which include regression models (used by the MDBA), the PRIDE model (used in Victoria), and Crop model 2 (part of IQQM). Furthermore, environmental demand, which was part of the Water User node, is now a separate node - the environmental demand node. It provides a means of simulating environmental water requirement by generating environmental demands.

In addition to the major changes described above, the following developments have also been made in Source 3.3.0:
  • The ability to configure parameters in catchments has been improved.
  • Bug fixes in weir functionality, such as resolution of mass balance.
  • Overhaul of Resource Assessment triggers provide greater flexibility.
  • Ability to run regression tests with the inclusion of the Regression Test Runner in the Tools menu.

    Plugins

When you download the Community plugins you may need to manually ‘unblock’ the .dll files in Windows after downloading. To do this, right click on the dll file in windows explorer and select properties. At the bottom of this window will be comment along the lines of ‘this file has been downloaded from the internet and has been blocked to protect this computer’. There should be an ‘unblock’ button next to the warning. Click unblock and then click ok. The plugin should then load.

    Insight

To run Insight you also need to install the 32bit version of Microsoft Visual C+\+ 2010 Redistributable Package.
This is for both 32bit machines and 64bit machines since the library we use is 32bit:

  • Version 3.1.0.12

    Released: Jan 18, 2013
    Licence Date: Aug 21, 2012

Licence Expiry extended until the end of April 2013

    Changes since 3.0.1.1
  • Fix for: RM-10131

Weir results have changed from previous versions:
  • Ordering has been added into the upstream reach of the weir
  • The mass balance of the upstream reach of the weir has been fixed
  • The upstream reach travel time is included in ordering travel time

  • There a new option to pass orders straight through a storage without re-regulating the orders
  • Calibration of links still needs more testing.
  • Copy & paste functionality does not copy expressions
  • Can now add constituents to a catchments model. Save and re-load project - it will not be able to run straight away.

    Plugins

If you are downloading any of the separate plugins – DERMTools etc – then you will need to manually ‘unblock’ this file in Windows after downloading. To do this, right click on the dll file in windows explorer and select properties. At the bottom of this window will be comment along the lines of ‘this file has been downloaded from the internet and has been blocked to protect this computer’.
