Release notes for WaterCAST 1.0

Version 1.0 has been launched under the WaterCAST banner, building upon and refining the current E2 modelling framework, with the following features:
  • Improved data management including:
    • Better handling of large scenarios (large # of catchments, long simulation periods)
    • Faster saving, loading and copying of projects and scenarios
  • Improved reporting and visualisation capabilities, including:
    • Inclusion of the ?Contributor? plugin ? a reporting tool for the viewing the contributions of a particular constituent from different areas of the catchment
    • New Graph window for displaying model/scenario statistics
    • New recording infrastructure and new visualisation of model outputs
      • New Project Explorer and Recording Manager
      • Greater detail of recording options, such as the recording of totals at the FU level
      • Retention of recorded parameters set so that each time a project is loaded the parameters of interest are recorded automatically
  • inclusion of the Sacramento rainfall-runoff model
  • Increased data analysis and manipulation capabilities, including terrain analysis and the AsciiGrid tool, which provides a mechanism for rapidly and easily importing daily rainfall or Potential Evapotranspiration (PET) data. It is particularly suitable for very large catchments (e.g. 50,000+ km2)
  • Improved input configuration of ?E2 storage? link model
  • New filtering tool that allows batch application of parameters to ?region? maps
  • Speed improvements to new scenario wizard
  • Greater customisation possibilities:
    • "Options..." - Allows the user to set some default colours and adjust the compression level when loading and saving project files.
    • "Unit Preference?" - Allows the user to set the global unit preferences.

  • SimHyd Bug Fix: There was an issue in the impervious area of the SimHyd model. It occurred only when the impervious area was activated (i.e. perviousFraction not equal to 1). Therefore, peak flows were significantly underestimated.
