Version 1.0.1

Released: Sep 30, 2005

RIPRAP Version 1.0.1 corrects a coding error that resulted in the prediction of rip-rap rock sizes that were too small. The error was insignificant in many cases, but became significant in situations where the bank angle is close to the natural angle of repose of the rip-rap material.

First public Toolkit Version in an Excel spreadsheet

RIPRAP was developed within the CRC for Catchment Hydrology’s River Restoration Program. The key development team were:

  • Assoc. Prof. Bob Keller (Project Leader, Monash University)
  • Frank Winston (Monash University)

Key industry assistance was provided by:

  • Dr. John Tilleard (Earth Tech Pty. Ltd.)
  • Ross Hardie (Earth Tech Pty. Ltd.)

The RIPRAP program was developed from an early DOS-based version of the same name, produced by Ian Drummond and Associates (now Earth Tech Pty. Ltd.). The permission of Dr. John Tilleard to freely use algorithms from the early version and material from the original guidelines is gratefully acknowledged.

Development History

The original DOS-based version of the program RIPRAP and the original Design Guidelines were developed by Ian Drummond and Associates (now Earth Tech Pty. Ltd.) in 1989 under contract to the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission of the State of Victoria.
