Compulsory data inputs include time series of current flow and natural flow. These should be in the form of comma separated values (*.csv) files.

Optional data inputs include time series of stream gains, stream losses and inputs to he reservoir, which must also be CSV format.

eFlow projects can be saved as XML files that record all information and links to the input data.

Results tables and augmented daily time series can be saved as comma separated values files (*.csv).

eflow is not a complex hydrological model, and is to be used as a guide in the environmental flow planning process. To establish a more definitive cost of environmental watering, the environmental flow objectives should be included within a dedicated river modelling package. eFlow can only be applied to regulated rivers and can only provide predictions of environmental flows for a single river reach.
